Minsi Trails Council Mission Statement

The Mission of the Minsi Trails Council is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

 

Minsi Trails Council's Vision

The Vision of the Minsi Trails Council is that 

Every Scout advances in rank each year
Every Scout has a summer camping experience each year
Every Scout has a trained leader

As we realize this Vision, an increasing number of Scouts will remain in our program for five years or longer, thus fulfilling our mission of character development within young people.

Minsi Trails Council’s STRATEGIC PLAN

To attain our Mission and Vision, the Minsi Trails Council will focus on the following five Success Drivers in 2004-2008:

 
1.       Effective Leadership
bullet Unit Leadership - increase the number of Direct Contact Leaders completing basic training
bullet District Commissioner Service - insure that Unit Commissioners visit their units on a regular basis and recharter them on-time
bullet District Committees - improve the effectiveness of each District Committee
bullet Executive Board - develop an Executive Board that is diverse and raises the funds to strengthen the Scouting program
bullet Council Staff - employ an effective and efficient Council Staff
bullet Continuous Improvement Methodology - utilize the practices of Continuous Improvement in all levels of the organization
   
2.       Marketing the Value of Scouting
bullet Commitment of Council resources to marketing
bullet Conduct Customer Research to better understand our different customers
bullet Develop an Integrated Marketing & Communications Plan for the Council
   
3.       Sound Financial Development
bullet Operating Support - expand annual support to allow our programs to grow in quality and quantity
bullet Endowment Development - add $3M to the Council’s Endowment Fund
bullet Capital Campaign - conduct a Capital Campaign to prepare our camps & office to serve our Scouts for the next 20 years
 
4.       Growth Through Quality Program
bullet Quality Unit Program - help units improve the quality of their program
bullet Retention - improve the retention rate of our Scouts from 74% to 85%
bullet Camping - insure that every Scout has a summer camping experience each year
bullet Advancement - insure that every Scout advances in rank each year
bullet Membership Growth - increase our total youth served from 31,425 (’03) to 35,663 (’08)
   
5.  Outreach to Underserved Youth
bullet Develop sustainable outreach programs to urban youth in the Lehigh Valley through Scoutreach and Learning for Life
bullet Implement a high quality Scoutreach program in Monroe & Luzerne Counties to serve the growing youth population of these areas
