2008 Silver Beaver Award Application Deadline-8/15/08

Silver Beaver Award Each year, the highlight of the Council Recognition Dinner is the presentation of the prestigious Silver Beaver Awards. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor a local Council can bestow on a volunteer leader. Recipients of this award are individuals that have truly made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to a Boy Scout Council. Applications to nominate potential Silver Beaver recipients may be obtained by contacting Karen Scherer (610/264-8555 or kscherer@minsitrails.com) or by visiting the Council website at www.minsitrails.com. Forks of the Delaware Golf Event - June 24th

On June 24th, Forks District will hold its first annual "Scout Day on the Links" golf tournament at Architect's Golf Club in Lopatcong, NJ. As part of the day-long event, a morning golf clinic will be conducted for up to 100 Forks District scouts. From 9 to 11AM, Architect's instructors will provide hands-on classes in all aspects of the game. A real deal at only $10 per scout for two hours of instruction and lunch on the patio overlooking the award-winning Architect's course! After lunch, golfers will hit the links of the designer's course, followed by a reception and dinner where BOB RUPEL, Chairman, President and CEO of Lafayette Ambassador Bank will be honored with the "Good Scout Award." Forks unit leaders can register by calling the Council office. All proceeds will benefit scouting right here in Minsi Trails. Scouters Recognized

Recently a number of longtime Scouters were recognized for their commitment and dedication to Scouting. Executive Board Member and Assistant Council Commissioner Dave Binder was awarded with a Doctorate of Commissioner Service at the College of Commissioner Science held earlier this spring at William Patterson University in Wayne, NJ. Day Camp

Venture Crew 63 attends USMA in West Point, NY

Venture Crew 63 of Greenwich, NJ recently participated in the West Point Camporee held at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York from May 9th to May 11th. The Crew brought 17 scouts 2 of them from the Troop 63 and the other 15 from Crew 63. The Crew enjoyed many activities at the Camporee, which include grenade throwing, camouflage, land navigation, and wilderness survival to name a few. The Crew was fortunate enough to have two cadets stay with them and guide them throughout the weekend. We won a third place ribbon in Drill and a third place ribbon in RB-15(small boats). We also won a special award for their spirit and moral during the parade drill. This is the first competition for Crew 63 and we are look forward to many more! Venturing is part of the Boy Scouts of America and is open to boys and girls ages 14-21 and who have finished the 8th grade. Crew 63 is sponsored by Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church. Starting Memorial Day and Ending Labor Day the Scout Shop hours will be as follows: Monday and Friday's 9am-5pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am-6pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. The Scout Shop will be closed all Sunday's. Questions please call our Scout Shop @ 610-266-7770.
