http://www.minsitrails.com/IronPigsScoutNight.asp NEW ONLINE NETWORKING TOOL INVITES SCOUTS TO SHARE IDEAS All Scouters now have a new tool, Scouting Community, to communicate with each other. The social networking tool opens the door for Scouters to connect with Scouting peers. Similar to the ways MySpace encourages its members to stay in touch, Scouting Community promotes dialog among registered members throughout the country.
This tool can be a valuable resource for sharing information with other volunteers. Using the Groups feature, volunteers can join groups and share ideas for improving youth-member retention, recruiting new youth and achieving quality program. Groups can focus on a particular area of interest: creating fiscally strong units, for example. Sharing best practices in a particular area will benefit all group members and stimulate discussion on other topics.
Every member can create a public profile that tells his or her Scouting story. Setting up a profile invites other members to recognize your success and to communicate and share information that may be valuable to you both. Accumulating “friendships” with other members is one way to start dialogs. Another way is to initiate conversation on a particular topic via the forum. Any member can start, comment on, or answer a forum post.
Scouting Community is accessed from www.scouting.org/my scouting. Volunteer Scoutiners must create a MyScouting account and include their member ID in the profile. The site is a secure environment open only to members 14 years and older with a valid BSA ID. Anyone who already has a MyScouting account should confirm that a member ID is listed in their profile.

New Medical Form to Replace the Class 1 & 2, and Class 3 Forms The BSA has recently released a new medical form.
This form as well as the older Class 1 & 2, and Class 3 medicals are approved for 2009. The new forms are mandatory after January 1, 2010. Please inform your parents, fellow unit leaders and youth members of the change so that when they go for their sports, school, or annual physical, they can take the new forms with them.
These new forms provide for audio-visual, medical care, and medical information release forms which are most important and therefore should be used as soon as possible to insure the utmost safety of our members if an emergency occurs.
